Channel names and their keynotes were the first errors in interpretation that was already in place when I met design in 1993. You don't realize it, but you skip over a more fundamental understanding of definitions by already naming and assigning attributes to them. It pulls you away from seeing the body graph, since you already have a defined result "this channel name." The names of the centers were given and the characteristics of them; motors, awareness centers, Ji, Throat were all given, but the meanings, not so much. That was why I found it essential to study chakras and Tree of Life spheres to identify how the centers are experientially known. As with channel names and keynotes, I think Ra gave his own names and keywords to the gates though he used I Ching names as a kind of "formal" name, then added his interpretation keyword onto it. What is given in the revelation is that it synthesizes four main fields of study plus the body graph, index, and calculation details. I think it's fair to use any of the four element info to interpret the body graph components. Ra did one that if flawed, so I dropped that one in its entirety.
That's right, the revelation just shows the mechanic, so how any one of us interprets it is left up to each person's experience and observation. For me, it's without question that the I Ching is the interpretative basis of Human Design, so a student or practitioner does not have to go very far to study the gates or lines.
Several things you write are correct. Your inspiration functions through interaction. However people don't have to "ask" you about your knowledge. There is a very dominant interpretation that your question alludes to that I find basically ridiculous. What we want to understand first and foremost is how the person acts naturally and what the trouble is with the forces in the design that can disturb or interfere with healthy interactions. Yes, with no motor to Throat, it's a design to Wait, and waiting is a big lesson. It might take you years to fully comprehend all the habitual action in your life that are about pushing yourself or others, of attempting to force things, of pressuring yourself because you have been culturally conditioned to value your action, so you feel self-condemning or any type of non-acceptance of your nature as you are. That said, having a Throat definition, the assumption that you should wait until someone comes to you to give you energy so you are permitted to speak is as close to a travesty of Human Design indoctrination there is. Just awful. What the truth of that is all about is that you don't always have a willing audience and you might be quite unaware of the imposition of just talking at someone actually is. But that you feel like you have something to say and you want to share your thoughts, that's natural. The quality that will aid you the most is to recognize your attentiveness; that you pay attention to others but also want attention from others, so when you interrupt someone, pay attention, catch yourself. Be vigilant. Learn to breathe to wait for the appropriate opening. Experiment with raising you hand to indicate you'd like to contribute. You're here to bring inspiration into the world. To recognize when you're inspired is a clue for you. The understanding from the Kabbalah and chakras bring profound meanings to what the divine process is when the heavenly energy comes onto the mortal plane. This is our evolutionary information that is the first step in the creation process of manifestation, so the important thing is to learn how to allow room for your contribution rather than just forcing your thoughts into any given situation. And, if you would like to offer a lecture or a class, wait until you're clear, follow what inspires you and what you love. You don't need anyone outside to give you permission for this. This is a terrible error of interpretation and one to absolutely delete from your mind. with love, Zeno
Dear Anna,
There is a claim that only Jovian certified analysts are authorized to use Human Design, but it is not true. While that claim can apply to Rave Human Design, I don't use or teach that style that I found lacking, flawed and more of a justification for unconscious behavior than a tool for awakening.
If you don't use Rave Human Design, Jovian has absolutely no legal basis to go after anyone who uses authentic Human Design based on the revelation. This is what I did with Zen Human Design.
I will certify that you have achieved a level of competence, that you understand the system well enough to know what questions you might ask your client, that you approach your profession in a client-centric style, that you are committed to using this knowledge to help people know themselves, that you will do no harm, that you will be truthful with yourself first and foremost and know yourself, that you will show your clients the path of their life lessons that are written in their charts.
With love, it will be my honor to have you take this training with me.

This is such a good example of what is so deeply flawed in this style of chart. It is one person's subjective take on what you should find important, but unfortunately, it distracts people into believing these terms and labels are telling the most essential stuff to learn about Human Design. I spent many years stripping this off from the structure and the mechanic of Human Design because it doesn't really work. No one ever "gets" it. Diligent students just go round and round spouting off terms and advice as to what the problem is. The beginning is Centers Defined and Undefined. This is skipped by most all teachers, who want to start by answering the questions that come up as a result of this style of chart overview. This takes you into the middle, where students can flounder with expounding on more and more names but minimal understanding. The secret in learning Human Design is to penetrate and grasp the influence of conditioning. Each of us must recognize when we're being conditioned and then gradually learn about the bad habits we develop by rejecting or identifying with conditioning. Beginning with names that imply "Start Here" means people take on someone else's bias. Simply start with your own chart and the reference card of the centers. Look at the undefined centers, defined centers and how they interact. then ask the question, what is your own greatest disturbance? You will find it. It is self-teaching when you observe yourself reacting in any of the centers. From there, one can start to make new experiments and disidentify with energy that comes from outside oneself.
This question has some deep assumptions about the right to use the Human Design System, including the body graph and calculation that Ra introduced to the world. Your question has two main parts, so to start: Are you affiliated with Ra Uru Hu? We were. We hosted him in the US for more than five years, introduced Human Design, organized his classes and introduction lectures, developed his first training materials that were subsequently used worldwide. We had extended periods of time with him during the months he visited us each year. When our time with him was up, it coincided with some deeper issues around the training and also his shift toward editing away from his initial “you can prove it to yourself. It is not a belief system.” And “I don’t want to be a guru” to “the Voice is still with me.” Many of the common interpretations he developed mostly after our time with him, such as Profile, Type, Themes, Strategy, Crosses so we were able to watch as he changed his own rules and created an incredibly sophisticated system of keywords and labels for "easy" application. Students who paid the money and could read from a book were then licensed to charge money to give someone their set of labels and instructions for what to do about it. So, as far as being affiliated with this program, the answer is thankfully, no. The second part of the question, “how is it possible that you are able to use the rave chart” implies some kind of legal right to use that assumes its use requires permission. There are two comments here. First, we do not use the rave chart. We use the calculation we were taught, along with the rest of his original report of the revelation, including the index of the astrological degrees to hexagrams, the locations of them within the centers, the results of the five definition types and two modes. This is use of our education. Both of us were among the first teachers certified in Ibiza in 1994. We got the top marks of the class and still hold our copies of the original agreement that certified us to teach. The second part is that while it was great to hang out with Ra and learn from him directly, his interpretation is noticeably lacking the wisdom found in the I Ching. The questions we asked ourselves led us to separate his interpretation completely from his report of the revelation. If we could not find something true, but only could use his interpretation, then all it proved was that Ra taught a belief system with the "Ra says" result. After a six-year deconstruction process, we have been able to completely reconstruct an elegant, useable Human Design System that is based on self-knowledge. We feel that it is important that we call it the Human Design System, since it is the only clear, unadulterated version we know of.
I'm an astrologer. What can Human Design do for me?
As in astrology, Human Design calculations are based on the planetary constellation at a given moment. The information is coded by indexing astrological positions with the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching and then transferred to one of the nine centers (chakras) of the body graph. Now the data has another layer, where astrological positions clarify the qualities of the signs of the zodiac. You see Gemini in the Throat center, acting and talking, or Libra in the Spleen center, discriminating, judging, intuiting. Actually, there are two calculations for an individual's chart, one that precedes the physical birth by 88 degrees of the Sun, or, one Mercury orbit. The prenatal calculation shows the unconscious imprint of the genetic inheritance and physical attributes one has this life, the Body, while the birth calculation shows the conscious, Personality, Mind characteristics. Like in our lives, these two components of the human experience merge in the chart where they can interact through the centers via channels (Tree of Life). The result is a chart where centers can either be colored (stable) or remain white (subject to outside influence). With the Human Design chart, you see something that is not revealed by astrology alone. It is holographic, showing the DNA patterning (through the correspondence with the hexagrams), revealing the health and energy dynamics, highlighting planets as they function on the surface or only in relationship. Hundreds of astrologers have found this an invaluable and irreplaceable format for fully comprehending the birth imprint pattern that determines the Body/Mind attributes one carries in the life.
Does your Course in Human Design qualify me to give other people readings?
Your study of Human Design begins with yourself. It is a process that changes the way you use language, the perception you have toward yourself and others and provides great insight into life's many challenging dynamics. In order to really stand in your own knowledge, it does take some real self-observation and examination, so like any other discipline, though you might be a good student, mastery of design is a longer process than just what you'll be introduced to with the course. However, the course does provide you all the framework you need for practicing with everyone you know. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using Design right away, as long as your frame of reference is appropriate. When you're a beginner, it's smart to have a conversation, rather than to take on the role of an authority with someone else. Questioning your theories allows you to gain your own experiential validation, which is far more compelling when you introduce someone to the chart than when you still feel a reliance on what you've memorized or learned by rote. So yes, the course gives you the foundation. Your own practice, passion for Design, and integrity give you the rest.
The body graph is the integrative field that shows the astrological calculation as the body graph of nine centers. These centers correspond to the chakras and are either colored or remain white. This is a powerful interpretative basis for understanding how we interact with others.
To what extent can a Human Design chart reveal your career path?
If you have a career choice in mind, it's very possible to use the chart to evaluate how to approach any given field of work. If you have no clue as to what you want to do, or what you'd be good at, Design can point out conditions or characteristics that might guide the decision toward a more suitable type of work. For example, you might be a person who is much better off working by yourself, choosing when you'd like to meet with others, rather than having demands placed on you by the outer environment. When you're a clerk at a store, the customer comes in and you have to serve. That doesn't work well for everyone. Do you want to be the boss? There are indications in the chart for this. The criteria for finding the right fit with work has a number of components. Design can help enormously, but it will not be able to determine that a person should study biology versus history. It can point to certain pressures within the person when the job description clearly looks for something that is not natural to the Design. Design is an excellent adjunct to a career coach who can assist and uncover what the person's inclination is, and as such, can be used in a career consultation very effectively. It just won't state, “this is the chart of a ______ profession.”
How can Human Design help me on my spiritual path?
The difference between who you really are and who you wish to be, or think you ought to be, is directly related to the comfort level you experience in life. The key to your well-being and happiness is accepting the set of possibilities and limitations you are born with. The Human Design System is a revolutionary tool that finally allows you to see your predisposition clearly. It is a map of your strengths and vulnerabilities, of the built-in “buttons” pushed by others and events that cause you to contract and be distant from yourself. With Human Design, it is within your capacity to observe how people affect you and how you affect them. You can let go of unrealistic expectations, demands, or self condemnation. Once the habitual patterns of pressure, resistance and contraction are perceived, it is possible to relax into a positive attitude to the daily challenges and to remain open where you're designed to be.
